Toray Selects Kunihiko Morinaga of ANREALAGE to Design Uniforms for Japan Pavilion at Expo 2020 in Dubai

Tokyo, Japan, August 27, 2019 – Toray Industries, Inc., announced today that it has chosen Kunihiko Morinaga to design uniforms that the company will supply for attendants at the Japan Pavilion at Expo 2020 in Dubai, which will run from, October 20, 2020, through April 10, 2021. Mr. Morinaga has earned a top reputation around the world for his creations under the ANREALAGE brand, which he founded in 2003.

The Expo 2020 theme is Connecting Minds, Creating the Future. The Japan Pavilion’s theme is The Crosspoint for the Future (tentative), underscoring the nation’s commitment to its youth as it seeks to create new value from bringing people and ideas together. The uniforms will employ Toray’s advanced materials and incorporate cultural elements from Dubai and elsewhere in the Middle East to convey the notion of connections. This is in keeping with Toray’s sustainability vision, rolled out in July 2018, of delivering on its mission to provide innovative technologies and advanced materials that provide real solutions to the international community’s myriad challenges.

Profile of Kunihiko Morinaga

In 1980, Designer Kunihiko Morinaga was born in Tokyo. He graduated from Waseda University.
In 2003, he launched his own brand “ANREALAGE”.
ANREALAGE is a combination of the words ''REAL, UNREAL and AGE’’
Working under the belief ”God is in the details,” his designs are defined by meticulous patchwork fabric, as well as conceptual forms of odd proportions, and technology. After continuing to present his collection at the Tokyo Collection, In 2014, he participated in the Paris Fashion Week, starting with Spring/ Summer 2015.
In 2019, he was nominated as a finalist of the LVMH prize.
