TFA and CMA Decatur plants, both situated in Decatur, Alabama, joined forces forming the “Toray Decatur” team for two CSR events in May 2019.
On May 3, the “Toray Decatur” team participated in the Relay For Life of Morgan Decatur hosted by the American Cancer Society. Friends, relatives, caregivers, and survivors all used their unique passion to support Relay For Life. The survivors first took a celebratory lap with the crowd cheering them on. Then, caregivers were recognized for all they do to support their loved ones. After dark, relay participants shared an emotional moment, with a luminaria lit in remembrance of lives touched by cancer. The Relay For Life of Morgan Decatur helped raise funds for groundbreaking cancer research and patient care programs to make a difference in the communities.
On May 11, the Eighth Annual Decatur Morgan Hospital Foundation Dragon Boat Race & Festival was again presented under the name of Toray (TFA and CMA sponsored). This is one of the largest events in the area. This year, the foundation successfully raised money for educational resources for the Child and Adolescent School at Decatur Morgan Hospital West Campus and for mobile medical unit operation expenses.
“Toray Decatur” entered three teams for the dragon boat event. The participating employees felt connected to the experience through playing the Japanese taiko drums, from watching TFA President and CEO Art Nelson place the eye on the dragon, and finally from seeing the winners being announced by CMA President and CEO Dennis Frettat the end.
We are proud to come together as a team to help our community.
