On May 25, 2019, 16 Thai staff members and Japanese management of TPPT held a mangrove forest planting activity in Amphoe Klongkone, Samut Songkhram Province, Thailand.
Samut Songkram Province is situated southeast of Bangkok, and we reached the plantation area by taking bus and boat from our office in the city. On the way to the plantation area, we saw the well-preserved mangrove forest as well as monkeys, crabs, and different species of fishes as well as how the local fishermen make a living by cultivating arch shells and oysters. On this occasion, we jointly planted 100 of mangrove seedlings to serve as a habitat and source of food for species of animals as well as to preserve the ecosystem and environment. Though it was difficult to walk the planting area as the ground was muddy, all of us enjoyed this new experience.
Apart from offering an area for animals to breed, the mangrove forests also help with carbon dioxide absorption much more than normal forests. With the development of industries, environmental issues such as floods and global warming are assuming serious proportions also in Thailand. TPPT hopes that this activity will help preserve and protect the environment and we will strive to continue implementing useful projects in the future.
