【United Kingdom】Toray Advanced Composites UK Ltd (TACUK)

TACUK has awarded the ISO 45001, Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems certification for our Langley Mill site in the United Kingdom on 3 May 2019. The award of this accreditation is given to companies who have been independently audited, achieving robust safety management procedures integrated throughout their operational processes, which are both active and continually improving.

TACUK manufactures thermoset prepregs for aerospace and industrial markets. Our operations are classed as a high safety risk due to the large volume of chemicals and complex machinery employed on site. ISO 45001 sets the framework to ensure that the safety and health of employees, visitors and contractors is the No. 1 priority. The achievement is made more impressive when considering the entire process for compliance was achieved in under 12 months.

Key to the success of this award is the teamwork demonstrated across all departments. All employees at the site contributed to the project and were instrumental in a successful outcome being achieved. This included an expansion of the company’s Health and Safety Committee, updating working procedures into safe systems or work, and the completion of risk assessments.

This increased internal awareness and understanding of potential risks, whilst also embedding the adoption of the Toray safety strategy and “Anzen Koh-Doh” (“Think Possible Consequences”) into the heart of all operations.
