The Good Factory Awards were established in 2011 to commend outstanding monozukuri (manufacturing) plants with achievements in improvement of productivity and quality in Japan and abroad that would serve as a model for other companies in Asia.
TSD received the award in high recognition of its (1) promotion of “developing our own company” led by national staff and various measures to reform awareness of the management layer; (2) thorough implementation of human resource development and awareness reform through 3S/5S[1]; (3) honest undertakings for creating a factory where employees can work while feeling safe; and (4) promotion of high-level improvement based on data. All of these have enhanced the management and growing itself into one of the most important bases of the Toray Group.
A commemorative lecture session was held on the day after the ceremony, and Qin presented the details of the achievements for which TSD received the award, which attracted strong interest for the high-level plant operation led by the national staff.
