FP basic education classes were held at Toray Fibers & Textiles Research Laboratories (China) Co., Ltd. (TFRC) on October 16, 2019 and at Toray Plastics (Shenzhen) Ltd. (TPSZ) on October 18. In total, 47 people, primarily unit heads, chiefs and section managers of production sites, participated from 19 Toray Group companies in China.
Takehiko Mizuma and Shigehiro Hirano, Staffs of Accident prevention and Environment Technical Office, Chemical Engineering Dept., as well as Shingo Ando, Staff of Environment & Safety Dept. were invited lecturers from Toray Industries, Inc. and they took classes on conventional accident prevention education. The classes also covered utilization of FP checklist and included more practical contents that used the knowledge and lessons learned from fire Hiyari Hatto (near accident) cases of Toray Group to teach about prevention of similar fire accidents taking into account the features of fire Hiyari Hatto cases at the Toray Group companies in China.
The participants actively asked questions during the lectures. Many of them had a positive impression of the lectures and their comments included “It was meaningful that we received very valuable education” and “I would like to utilize what I learned in the class in plant accident prevention activities.”
The Toray Group companies in China will continue to raise accident prevention awareness and promote safety activities.
