The Sixth Safety Summit of Toray Group Companies in the Republic of Korea was held on October 15, 2019 at the Gumi No. 4 Plant of Toray Advanced Materials Korea Inc. (TAK). The summit is a forum to raise the safety awareness of all the employees of Toray Group companies in Korea as well as to share safety activity information for achieving zero accidents.
The summit this year was attended by about 50 people including representatives from all the Toray Group companies in the country and directors in charge of safety. TAK Chairman Lee Young-kwan, who is also Toray’s Chief Representative for Republic of Korea, in his address, stressed the importance of 3S[1], the most basic activity in ensuring safety, and requested the participants to carry out the following three points; (1) safety coaching by managers on site with a sense of mission; (2) prevention of fire accidents by strengthening the management of aged facilities; and (3) active response to the strengthening environmental regulations.
The summit also had fire prevention drills on handling fire resulting from chemical leakage in collaboration with local fire department as part of site safety inspection as well as a special lecture on safety by a professor from Yonsei University.
