The 26th ITSF Presentation Ceremony was held at The Dharmawangsa Jakarta in Jakarta, Indonesia, on February 13, 2020.
The guests who graced the ceremony included Toray Industries, Inc. Executive Vice President Ryo Murayama and Mr. Masafumi Ishii, the Japanese Ambassador to Indonesia. The ceremony started off with the opening address by Dr. Laksana Tri Handoko, Chairman of ITSF. Ambassador Ishii in his speech expressed his gratitude to Toray’s contribution through ITSF.
This year, Dr. Agus Purwanto of Universitas Sebelas Maret received the Science and Technology Award for the development of lithium battery, while 18 scientists were awarded the Science and Technology Research Grant, and 10 middle and high school teachers received the Science Education Award.
A reporting session by the winners of the previous year’s grant was held on February 12, the day before the ceremony. The reporting was divided into the three fields of physics and engineering, chemistry and biotechnology, and biology and environment, and the researchers presented their research results and had profound discussions with the members of the selection committee, judges and participants. A science education seminar was held along with the reporting session where the 10 recipients of this year’s Science Education Award gave presentations on the science educational materials they developed. About 200 people participated in the reporting session and seminar.
