The 28th Safety Convention of Toray Group companies in Malaysia (hereinafter referred to as “TGM”) was successfully organized on 16 January 2020 at the TGM Training Centre in Seberang Jaya, Penang. About 80 associates from Toray Industries (Malaysia) Sdn. Berhad (TML), Penfabric Sdn. Berhad (PAB), Toray Plastics (Malaysia) Sdn. Berhad (TPM), Penfibre Sdn. Berhad (PFR), and Toray Malaysia Systems Solution Sdn. Bhd. (TMS) took part in the event.
TGM Safety Chairman Akihiro Omura, who is also the Managing Director of TPM, delivered the opening speech wherein he emphasized on safety as top priority in TGM. Teh Hock Soon, Toray Industries, Inc.’s Chief Representative for Malaysia cum Managing Director of TML then presented prizes to the winners of the safety poster drawing and safety slogan writing competitions.
The Safety Convention provides an avenue for the TGM companies to present and share with one another their respective safety initiatives and countermeasures that had been carried out during the year. The multi-way interaction allowed all the participants to learn more about safety in a more effective manner. Through the Q&A session, beneficial information and knowledge were further highlighted to improve safety awareness.
The respective managing directors and mill/plant managers also gave their observations and insights to further improve the safety activities and plans that had been presented. The convention concluded with a safety pledge and a simple lunch.
