The 27th ITSF Presentation Ceremony was held on February 17, 2021. The ceremony was held in a web conference format, instead of holding it at a hotel in Jakarta as usual, due to the COVID-19 infections. More than 200 attendees took part in the event this year.

Dr. Laksana Tri Handoko, Chairman of ITSF, delivered the opening address, which was followed by speeches by Mr. Kenji Kanasugi, the Japanese Ambassador to Indonesia, Professor Bambang Brodjonegoro, Minister of Research and Technology, Mr. Nadiem Makarim, Minister of Education and Culture, and Toray President Akihiro Nikkaku. The guests other than Nikkaku, in their speeches, expressed their appreciation to Toray for contributing to the development of science and technology in the country through ITSF.

This year, Professor Freddy Permana Zen of Institut Teknologi Bandung received the Science and Technology Award, while 18 scientists were awarded the Science and Technology Research Grant, and seven middle school and high school teachers received the Science Education Award.

A reporting session by the winners of the previous year’s Science and Technology Research Grant was held on February 16, a day before the presentation ceremony. The reporting was divided into the three fields of physics and engineering, chemistry and biotechnology, and biology and environment, and the researchers, who had received the grant, reported their research results and had deep discussions with the members of the selection committee, judges, and participants. On February 6, ITSF held a science education seminar and the seven winners of the Science Education Award this year gave presentations on the educational materials they developed.
