On March 10, 2021, The Japan Society of Hong Kong held a scholarship presentation ceremony, which awarded two million yen in total to five students who are going to study in Japan in fiscal year 2021.
The Japan Society of Hong Kong is a voluntary organization providing Japanese language and cultural education, and cultural exchange between Hong Kong and Japan. Ms. Sally Wong, who is the chairperson of the organization, used to serve as the principal representative of Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office (Tokyo). The Hong Kong-Japan Cultural & Educational Exchange Foundation run by the Hong Kong Japanese Club was established in 1991 with donations from Japanese people living in Hong Kong, and is the main sponsor of the scholarship program.
Toray Industries (South China) Co., Ltd. (TSCH) and THK Managing Director Teruo Funahashi, who is the committee chairman of the Hong Kong-Japan Cultural & Educational Exchange Foundation, attended the ceremony along with Mr. Mitsuhiro Wada, ambassador and consul general of Japan in Hong Kong and awarded the scholarships to the students.
