Keisuke Kashihara, who is working at Garment Dept. 1 and Sustainability & CSR Dept. of THK in Hong Kong since May 2021, has been active at the national level in Japan as a core member of Toray Kendo Club since he joined Toray Industries, Inc. in 2015 till 2020.

His track record of being active as a top kendo player in Japan who has won the national title several times was recognized, and the Hong Kong Kendo Association requested him to give technical guidance to the association’s members who are probables for the World Kendo Championship team. Responding to the request, he held a kendo seminar on October 14, 2021.

The seminar was attended by about 50 Hong Kong players and he gave a lecture on basic skills as well as high-level techniques with tournament play in mind. It was so popular that he was requested to hold the seminar continuously, so THK plans to promote it as part of CSR activities.

He launched a Kendo club at an overseas base (i.e. THK), for the first time since the establishment of the Toray Kendo Club, in May this year when he arrived at THK, and has been actively practicing with the aim of participating in Kendo tournaments held around the world and finishing at the top level at those tournaments.

“I will continue to provide technical guidance to the Kendo players in Hong Kong as part of CSR activities. My goal is to participate in Kendo tournaments held around the world from Hong Kong as my base, while successfully striking a balance with work, and win at such tournaments,” said Kashihara.
