TPA has added another component to its sustainability initiative. The company has leased roof space at its North Kingstown, Rhode Island, campus to Distributed Solar Development, LLC (DSD) for the installation of 1,332 solar panels.

The installation, which started in August 2021 and to be completed in November 2021, will provide clean energy to Rhode Island residents. TPA initiated this sustainability project with SolarKal, a leading commercial solar marketplace in the United States, which advises and supports organizations in simplifying their transition to solar energy. DSD financed the project using incentives available through the Rhode Island Renewable Energy Growth (REG) Program. The endeavor offers another example of TPA’s commitment to environmental stewardship and the addressing of climate change.

The advanced, highly-efficient solar panels are installed on several sections of the roof of the Torayfan Division building. They are enabling the generation of 700,000 kWh of energy (700 MWh). That is equivalent to the providing of pollution-free electricity annually to 120 Rhode Island homes. It is also estimated that the new solar project will reduce CO2 emissions by 235 tons annually.

“We are pleased to be in a position to help Rhode Island with its renewable energy goals and have a positive impact on the state’s environmental health,” says John Eustis, Vice President, US Group Procurement, TPA. TPA’s environmental profile is critically important to its customers, its employees, and the Rhode Island community.
