30th Safety Convention of Toray Group Companies in Malaysia

The 30th Safety Convention of Toray Group Companies in Malaysia (hereinafter TGM) was successfully hosted on 20 January 2022. Navigating the impact of COVID-19, the 30th Safety Convention had embraced the "new normal", being held online to avoid a large physical gathering. It was attended by 70 participants from Toray Industries (Malaysia) Sdn. Berhad (TML), Penfabric Sdn. Berhad (PAB), Toray Plastics (Malaysia) Sdn. Berhad (TPM),　Penfibre Sdn. Berhad (PFR), and Toray Malaysia Systems Solution Sdn. Bhd. (TMS).

TGM Safety Chairman Ho Soo Boon, who is also the managing director of PAB, delivered the opening speech. He commented that this annual event is aimed at raising TGM associates’ awareness on safety issues by providing an avenue for the group companies to present and share the safety initiatives and countermeasures that they had been carried out during the year.

The presentation by each company allowed everyone to know and learn from one another in a more effective manner. There was also a Q&A session whereby beneficial information and knowledge was highlighted to improve safety awareness. During the event, prizes were given out to the winners of the safety poster drawing and safety slogan writing competitions.

After an intense two-hour conference, Toray Industries, Inc.’s Chief Representative for Malaysia Teh Hock Soon delivered the closing remarks. Teh emphasized that to attain and sustain zero accidents and zero coronavirus, improving safety is one of the key habits that must be prioritized by company as well as employees. Together we must take on the challenges, not just in reducing the occurrence of workplace injuries, but also placing a greater focus on employees’ health by strictly practicing the standard operating procedures to ensure a safer workplace.
