Korea Toray Science Foundation (KTSF)



The Fifth KTSF Awards Ceremony to present the Science and Technology Awards and Science and Technology Research Fund was held on October 25, 2022 at the FKI Conference Center in Seoul.

The Science and Technology Awards were won by Mr. Kim Dong-ho, Professor, Yonsei University, and Mr. Baek Jong-beom, Professor, Ulsan Institute of Science and Technology (UNIST), each of whom received a cash prize of 100 million won and a plaque. Mr. Jeong Won-jin, Professor, Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology (GIST), and Mr. Cho Seung-hwan, Professor, Pohang University of Science and Technology (POSTECH), were chosen for the Science and Technology Research Fund in basic research while Ms. Park Moon-jung, Professor, POTECH, and Mr. Yoo Seung-ho, Professor, Korea University, were chosen in applied research. They will receive annual funding to the tune of 50 million won each for research for three years.

A special lecture titled “Material Innovation from Creative Cooperation between Japan and Republic of Korea” by Mr. Morinobu Endo, Special Emeritus Professor of Shinshu University in Japan, was held after the awards presentation, which received an overwhelming response from the participants.

In concluding the ceremony, Lee Young-kwan, President, KTSF, stressed the importance of science and technology for the sustainable development of mankind, and said that KTSF will continue to strive for the development of science and technology in the Republic of Korea.
