Toray International India Private Limited (TIID)
We, at TIID, got a golden opportunity to support the noble cause of education. Education is the backbone of every society in the world. Quality education, however, is still a dream for many in India. The infrastructure in majority of schools is not conducive for providing quality education. This is a challenge for the government as well as for the entire society.
Corporate India is now lending a helping hand to schools in its effort to improve the quality of education. Under the corporate philosophy of Toray Group, “Contributing to society through the creation of new value with innovative ideas, technologies and products”, TIID decided to support Abhinav Vidya Mandir, a nearby educational institute, as part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative.
Abhinav Vidya Mandir is a high school located close to Sanjay Gandhi National Park, Borivali East, Mumbai. About 1,300 students study at this school from grades one to 10, where education is provided in both English and the local language of Marathi. The school is run by a private philanthropic trust.
TIID’s Daijiro Moriguchi, Managing Director, along with Prashant Chitnis, Deputy General Manager, Sales (Fiber Division), and Kavita Igave, Senior Manager, Human Resources & Administration Department, visited the school and held discussions with the school trustees Mr. Amin Thakur and Mr. Shailesh More, as well as the principal Ms. Prachi Walkar and a teacher Ms. Tejasvi Garde to understand their requirements.
After understanding the needs of school, on 31 August 2022, TIID donated ceiling fans and speakers for classrooms, in addition to laboratory equipment. We are so happy to have been part of such a great event.
