29th Prize Presentation Ceremony

The 29th MTSF Prize Presentation Ceremony was successfully organized in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on November 22, 2022. Hosted by MTSF Chairman Tan Sri Datuk Dr. Omar Abdul Rahman and Toray Industries, Inc.’s Chief Representative for Malaysia Teh Hock Soon, some 120 guests attended the physical ceremony, held for the first time in three years after the COVID-19 pandemic outbreak.

Among the honorable guests who graced the ceremony were Mr. Katsuhiko Takahashi, the Ambassador of Japan to Malaysia, and Hideki Hirabayashi, Senior Vice President of Toray.

In his congratulatory address, Ambassador Takahashi extended his heartiest congratulations to the successful recipients, and also praised MTSF's tremendous contributions to the development of science and technology in Malaysia for the past 29 years. Hirabayashi, who made a speech on behalf of Toray President and MTSF Honorary Chairman Akihiro Nikkaku, emphasized in his speech that science and technology together with progressive innovation will continue to be the key drivers to the well-being and future survival of human race as the COVID-19 pandemic has drastically changed our lives.

At the presentation, Hirabayashi handed the awards and grants totalling 341,000 Malaysian ringgit to a total of 30 Malaysians, comprising 2 scientists, 13 young researchers and 15 dedicated science teachers. After the ceremony, the VIPs and guests toured the winners’ exhibits where the respective projects were highlighted. A sumptuous lunch then followed.
