Tokyo, Japan, May 15, 2023 – Toray Industries, Inc., held a workshop using Ultrasuede™ materials to make aprons at Irodori-no-oka complex facility in Higashi-Matsushima City, Miyagi Prefecture. Purpose-built for revitalizing this regional community, the facility offers dining facilities, bathing facilities, lodging, and various healthcare facilities.
The purpose of the workshop was to let children and their parents enjoy an opportunity to make aprons using Ultrasuede fabrics featuring a smooth feel and beautiful luster, helping to create a memorable Mother’s Day by experiencing the pleasure of creating something. “Mother’s Day present” was the theme for this workshop that had a total of 29 participants ranging from kindergarten kids to elementary school students as well as their families, all getting excited and having fun.
The workshop started with the staff delivering a briefing on Ultrasuede features and process of making aprons, with an hour provided for production. The aprons that the participants made were all beautiful and skillfully made, having a lot of warm feeling put into them. One participant said the aprons would be a good memory because the superb material made it easy to craft a quality product, and wished a similar workshop would be held again. Another remarked on all the fun she had and was very much satisfied with the result thanks to the comfortable feel and luxurious texture of the Ultrasuede material. Toray staff who were present were also inspired by the workshop’s success and were encouraged to promote activities that involved contributing Ultrasuede materials.
To date, Toray has continued to provide information on Ultrasuede and product to leading fashion- and design-related educational institutes both inside and outside Japan at no cost.
As well as providing support for educational institutes, Toray will actively organize workshops and events aimed for promoting harmonious coexistence with regional communities, offering more opportunities for creations and new experiences.
