Misaki Doi (age 32 / Japan) has been selected to enter, as wild card, the qualification for the Toray Pan Pacific Open Tennis Tournament 2023 by its Executive Committee (headquartered in Tokyo’s Minato ward and led by Tournament Director Yutaka NAKAGAWA). The qualification is scheduled to be start on Saturday, September 23. As she has already declared retirement, this will be her last tournament as a professional tennis player.

Misaki Doi has made a name for herself in tennis since her junior days. She has also achieved a number of successes in doubles with Kurumi Nara, who retired in 2006 and became an ambassador for this tournament. She turned pro in December 2008, with a career-high singles ranking of No.30 which she reached on October 10, 2016. She has been a regular contender of this tournament, and most recently, in 2019, she made it to the quarterfinals in singles, and in the semifinals in the doubles.

She will take part in the special talk show and autographing session this year, and the tournament plans to hold a retirement ceremony for her. We hope that many tennis fans will come and see Doi's final heroic performance.

Further details will be posted on the official website (www.toray-ppo.com) as soon as they are finalized.
