The Toray Pan Pacific Open Tennis Tournament Executive Committee (headquartered in Tokyo’s Minato ward and led by Tournament Director Yutaka Nakagawa) has announced 15 players for the main draw and one wild‐card entry. The 2023 tournament runs from Saturday, September 23 to Sunday, October 1 on the courts of the Ariake Coliseum & Ariake Tennis Forest Park.
This year’s event will be the 38th edition of the tournament, the pinnacle of women's professional tennis in Japan. World No. 1 and two‐time French Open champion Iga Sifiontek (No.1, Poland) announced her participation in the tournament early, followed by Caroline Garcia (No.7, France), Jessica Pegula (No.3, USA), Elena Rybakina (No.4, Kazakhstan), Maria Sakkari (No.8, Greece), Wimbledon champion Marketa Vondrousova (No. 9, Czech Republic), and Karolína Muchová (No. 10, Czech Republic)—a total of seven of the top 10 players. The tournament will feature popular tennis players such as Belinda Bencic (No. 13, Switzerland) and Daria Kasatkina (No. 14), who are well known in the tournament, and will bring together the top‐ranked players who are leading the women's tennis world. And to represent Japan, Nao Hibino (No. 81, Japan) was nominated by the organizer to participate in the tournament.
This year's event will be held under the theme of "Tennis Fest" and will feature not only the world's best tennis matches, but also hands‐on events, gourmet food, and much more!
